Kate Richards (aka Adventure Mumma) has lived and played in the Tropical North Queensland region for the past 35 years. Now, mother to two very active kids (11 & 13), she’s passionate about letting them experience the same types of adventures and lifestyle that she enjoyed during her childhood, and capturing their family fun on camera.
Kate’s website AdventureMumma.com, provides an insider’s guide to family adventures around TNQ. Through her blogposts and social media shares she inspires and empowers parents to go outside, get active with their children, and connect, with nature and as a family. Whether its snorkelling the reef, exploring freshwater creeks or leaping off boulders into deep waterholes, she hopes that kids grow up just as adventurous and free spirited as previous generations.
In 2016, Kate and her family towed a Pink Winnebago down the East Coast of Australia for three months, raising money and awareness for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). They held over 25 ‘Happy Hours’ at participating caravan parks and raised over $11,000. The entire Follow the Sun campaign run by Dometic raised over $100,000 for NBCF.
Since returning from the trip the Adventure Mumma blog has been named 1 of 19 Travel Blogs to watch by Tourism Queensland, and the family are sought after by various tourism organizations to help promote family travel. Their latest adventure involved driving from Cairns to Perth across the Heart of Australia –– The Reef, The Rock and The West via The Outback Way (Australia’s Longest Shortcut).
